Tyler Deal: An Alumna Shares Her Recent Work

November 7, 2008 – February 7, 2009(This exhibition has passed.)

Beginning her undergraduate education at the University of Montana, Tyler Deal received a BFA from Appalachian’s Department of Art in 2004. Deal next traveled to Pratt Art Institute for her MFA. Completing her graduate work in 2006, the young artist returned to Boone and continues to create new work. Many folks in the community will remember the artist’s work from her exhibitions in local venues, but this exhibition provides an opportunity to see how the artist’s work and concepts evolved during her graduate studies. In addition to her educational successes, Deal has placed a growing number of works in private collections, and is focusing on expanding her exhibition resume.

In much of her recent work the artist breaks away from the two-dimensionality of the canvas to experiment with mixed media and non-conventional approaches. This is the most recent of exhibitions that feature students or alumni from the Department of Art.
