Shelly Hehenberger: Chaos and Cosmos

December 1, 2006 – December 30, 2006(This exhibition has passed.)

Shelly Hehenberger lives and works in Boone. She received her MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 1994. This exhibition presents a series of paintings in oil and wax on wood. Hehenberger says of this body of work, “I use forms and compositions to represent ideas about the way I see things fitting together in this chaotic world to create a cosmos that many people overlook. For me, cosmos is about how people and things in nature are connected to one another, and how we all yearn for that connectedness. The idea of Chaos and Cosmos is also significant to my process which begins with layers of wax and paint that I scrape and layer again and again, until forms emerge from the surface and the connections are revealed.”
