The exhibition Perspectives in Bronze, presents works by two well-established sculptors Greg Bailey & Michael Warrick. These artists will present works that contrast and compliment by exemplifying the multifaceted qualities of bronze by utilizing their own influences. Bailey’s bronze work is “based upon an intellectual and emotional response to the predictions of the future regarding the planetary sustainability of human life” where Warrick’s bronze work is a direct “exploration of organic form and textural surface with a natural color pallet” derived from found objects.

About the artist
Greg Bailey
Greg Bailey was born and raised in California and now lives in Connecticut, where he makes his art and teaches as an Assistant Professor of Sculpture at Connecticut College. His natural inclination to make things was brought into an art context during his undergraduate studies at Sonoma State University in California. During the time between undergraduate and graduate school he developed a personal motivation for art production that stretched beyond a school environment. Discovering he had something to offer as an instructor and as an artist, he obtained his MFA at graduate school for sculpture at the Hartford Art School from the University of Hartford in Connecticut. After moving to Connecticut, Bailey continues to make his own art while pursuing professional teaching at Connecticut College. Greg Bailey’s artwork is visionary and complex in the layering of imagery and content. Technically skilled in a variety of media and processes, Bailey works in a diverse range of sculptural materials including: bronze, steel, fiberglass, and often creates water, light and motion features in his installations. He works from an intuitive personal vocabulary that pulls from many post-modern and philosophical theories.
Michael Warrick
Michael Warrick is a Professor of Sculpture at the University of Arkansas and lives in Little Rock. His distinguished national exhibition record spans more than three decades with 40 solo exhibits and 147 competitive and invitational exhibits. He is the recipient of numerous regional and national grants and fellowships such as a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship through the Ragdale Foundation in Lake Forest, Illinois, a Visual Arts Grant from the Southeastern College Art Conference in Chapel Hill, NC, an Arkansas Arts Council Visual Arts Fellowship and Artist Grants from Art Matters, Inc. and the Pollack-Krazner Foundation both located in New York City. During 2009 he was given the Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement by the Southeastern College Art Conference in Chapel Hill, NC. He’s also been a Visiting Artist, Artist-In-Residence, Lecturer or Panelist at 92 institutions and has installed outdoor sculptural works in over 15 states.
