Guest Curators: Jason Wright and Kyle Hazard

The Peel Literature & Arts Review, more affectionately known just as “The Peel,” is Appalachian State University’s literary arts magazine and provides App State poets, writers and artists a voice to be heard far and wide. For the past eight years, The Peel has been “cultivating creative expression” across App State’s campus. The literary magazine’s influence can be recognized in print and online, as well as through related exhibitions and events. Over the past few years, The Peel has garnered national attention through winning the Pacemaker and Pinnacle awards. These awards are presented to the best collegiate media organizations and individuals in the country through judgment by industry professionals. In conjunction with The Peel and some of its alumni, the Turchin Center is creating a participatory exhibition that allows the viewer to read their way through the evolution of The Peel and discover student expression in the nation’s preeminent literary arts magazines that have also won these awards.
