The exchange allows works from each artist to be:

  • included in an exhibition in New Zealand;
  • included in an online sale and exhibition;
  • gifted to a museum collection; and
  • exchanged with other artists from around the world

The artist not only has the opportunity to add two exhibitions and two museum permanent collections to their resume, but also add ten collages by other artists to their personal collections.

Every year one collage from each artist is gifted to a permanent collection of an international museum. The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts is honored to be the recipient of this year’s 8th International Collage Exchange, by adding 160 works of art to the TCVA’s Permanent Collection. As stated in the TCVA’s Permanent Collection mission, the program was established with the belief that the arts play a vital role in experiencing, interpreting, understanding, recording and shaping culture, supports the mission of the center and the university by acquiring, documenting, preserving and exhibiting works of art. The Permanent Collection makes works of aesthetic and historic significance accessible through an extensive exhibition and loan program that:

  • places art work in public spaces across the university;
  • places work on loan with other institutions or organizations;
  • provides the basis for an extended exhibition program in the center’s galleries; and
  • establishes the university as an active center for research in the visual arts
