The 7th Annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition (AMPC) is a program of Appalachian’s Outdoor Programs in partnership with the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation and the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts. The AMPC has grown to become a prominent regional competition attracting the work of amateur and professional photographers from across the country allowing them the opportunity to celebrate the unique people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachians. Categories for photographic submissions include: Adventure, Blue Ridge Parkway Vista and Share the Journey, Culture, Environment, Flora/Fauna, and Landscape.
About the program
The AMPC is a partnership between Appalachian State University’s Outdoor Programs, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts , and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. About the jurors
The jurors selected for the 7th Annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition have made a broad impact with their work.
Jamie Goodman
Jamie has thirteen years of experience as a journalistic photographer for community newspapers and magazines and currently serves as Communications Coordinator for the non-profit environmental organization Appalachian Voices. She is a senior studio member of The Nth˚ Gallery, an independent art venue in Boone, NC, and has helped orchestrate over 90 individual, group, and juried exhibitions.
Troy Tuttle
Troy is the Senior Photographer for Appalachian State University, a position he has held for the past 10 years. He has won numerous awards for his portrait and commercial work and his images have been accepted into the photographic collection of the Smithsonian Museum of American History.
Katie Langley
Katie has returned to the world of photography from a near decade long stint in banking. She brings a journalistic, candid and artistic approach to her work and has found success in the highly competitive world of portraiture photography.
