Join us on Friday mornings throughout the semester to explore your creative spirit in community with others! These art-making workshops are held in the studio space at the Turchin Center and are led by Appalachian State University student instructors. Open Studio welcomes students, faculty/staff, and community members of all skill levels to create and explore new art making materials in a casual and welcoming setting. Supplies are provided. Registration is required.

About the Instructor

April Flanders

Reese Clemons is a student at Appalachian State University pursuing a degree in Art Education. Prior to attending Appalachian State, Reese worked and interned at Holt School of Fine Art in Charlotte N.C. This was the seed combining her love of both art and teaching.

April Flanders

Ava Kassab, raised in Hickory, NC, is majoring in Art management at Appalachian State University, with a minor in Nonprofit organizations. Her work explores themes of unconditional love and acceptance, spirituality, and a deep respect for nature. Drawing and painting with mixed media are her key mediums, primarily using acrylic paint, acrylic markers, ink pens, colored pencils, and more. Ava has exhibited work in Newton, NC, at NoCo Arts gallery and at Appalachian State’s Smith Gallery and Looking Glass Gallery.
