Sander’s body of work is born out of materials in conjunction with traditional printmaking techniques. They act as homage to found objects and a record of existence. Each piece is intuitively created; the imagery and concepts represent aspects of time and place, some playful and sarcastic, others rather serious. The common thread is simply that experience, interaction with surroundings, and time are the most valuable teachers to an artist. Sander received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Department of Art and is an Appalachian State University graduate.
