Friday: Blazing Easels (ages 7-12)

Young artists will create art in a variety of mediums including collage, painting, drawing and three-dimensional art using found objects. Participants will explore line, shape, color, texture, value, space and form in a relaxed, inviting small group setting.

About the instructors

Classes are led by Appalachian State University art education majors, BreeAnna Duell and Lily Crum, and supervised by Christy Chenausky, Director of Arts Education and Outreach at the Turchin Center.

BreeAnna Duell is a Junior at Appalachian State University where she studies Art Education. She has had a passion for art and art making since she was a child, accompanied by a growing interest of art through grade school. Some of the creative mediums she enjoys most are drawing and painting. In her leisure time you can find BreeAnna spending time outside, going for a run, or working on her personal artwork.  

Lily Crum is a junior art education major at Appalachian State. She is also pursuing a degree in special education, with further emphasis on emotional and behavioral disorders. She enjoys spending her time outside hiking or in the studio, working with a variety of mediums. She primarily enjoys working with fibers, including paper making, a skill she recently explored while at Penland School of Craft.
