Metalsmithing 101

Metalsmithing 101 will introduce students to the basics of metal working including technical skills, building and problem solving. Emphasis will be on the fundamentals of working with hand tools to gain proficiency in sawing, riveting, soldering, simple forming and finishing techniques. Through small projects, students will learn to incorporate these skills to create unique jewelry designs. Supplies are included in the class fee. Additional metals and materials are available for purchase during class.

About the instructor

Jessica Quint has been making art as long as she can remember and has been teaching art classes for five years. She has a love for most media, however, her passion is metalsmithing. In her free time you can find her in the studio creating art in acrylics, alcohol inks, watercolor, mixed media, and jewelry. She is a graduate from Sandhills Community College, in Southern Pines, NC and has recently made Boone her home. Jessica enjoys her work and the discovery of new art media at Cheap Joes Art Supply in Boone.
