DESCRIPTION:Join us from 6-7:30pm on Tuesdays throughout the semester at the Turchin Center for Paint Night artmaking workshops led by Appalachian State University student instructors Reese Clemons and Dani Juarez. \nPaint Night activities will be equally accessible\, with a focus on exploring a variety of techniques and painting together. Prior to attending App State\, Reese worked and interned at Holt School of Fine Art in Charlotte\, NC. This was the seed combining her love of both art and teaching. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				A native Chicagoan\, Dani Juarez is a career educator and an art teacher who can’t choose just one medium. With a BA in Art Therapy\, she is currently in the App State Masters Program for School Counseling.  Her personal experience with therapy had a deep impact on her life\, motivating her to become the kind of support she once needed as a child. Her goal is to foster self-awareness and confidence in her students\, enabling them to recognize their value and build a foundation for happiness and success.

She’s eager to give back to her community through this internship and to bring the skills she’s developed in college into a professional environment. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Finn Jones\, originally from Halifax County\, NC\, is pursuing a degree in Special Education at Appalachian State University. His artwork centers on themes of mental health and neurodiversity\, aiming to help others feel understood and represented. Working in mixed media\, Finn incorporates scrapbooking\, painting\, spray paint\, paint markers\, colored pencils\, and 3D elements into his pieces. His work has been featured in the Scholastic Art Fair and the Cary Gallery of Artists\, and he has also sold pieces at an art market. A highlight of his early career was receiving the Susan Ellis Roberts Art Scholarship upon graduating from Green Level High School.

With a BA in Art Therapy\, she is currently in the App State Masters Program for School Counseling.  Her personal experience with therapy had a deep impact on her life\, motivating her to become the kind of support she once needed as a child. Her goal is to foster self-awareness and confidence in her students\, enabling them to recognize their value and build a foundation for happiness and success.

With a BA in Art Therapy\, she is currently in the App State Masters Program for School Counseling.  Her personal experience with therapy had a deep impact on her life\, motivating her to become the kind of support she once needed as a child. Her goal is to foster self-awareness and confidence in her students\, enabling them to recognize their value and build a foundation for happiness and success.

They hope to continue on to residencies and graduate school\, which will help them achieve their goal of one day opening a community clay studio. Bug has worked as a gallery ambassador at the Turchin Center for two years and is passionate about creating inclusive\, creative environments. Their art practice reflects the fluidity of identity\, exploring themes of gender\, sexuality\, family dynamics\, technology\, religion\, and politics. While they primarily work with clay\, they identify as a mixed-media artist with strong foundations in painting\, drawing\, metals\, and fibers. In their free time\, they enjoy hiking\, playing with their cats\, creating comics\, writing music\, and collaborating creatively with friends! \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Dani Juarez is a native Chicagoan\, a career educator\, and an art teacher who can’t just choose one medium. The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze her. Dani’s weekends are for grad school homework–school counseling–coffee on the porch\, and cooking her 16 year old son’s (who is also attending App this year!) favorite foods.

They hope to continue on to residencies and graduate school\, which will help them achieve their goal of one day opening a community clay studio. Bug has worked as a gallery ambassador at the Turchin Center for two years and is passionate about creating inclusive\, creative environments. Their art practice reflects the fluidity of identity\, exploring themes of gender\, sexuality\, family dynamics\, technology\, religion\, and politics. While they primarily work with clay\, they identify as a mixed-media artist with strong foundations in painting\, drawing\, metals\, and fibers. In their free time\, they enjoy hiking\, playing with their cats\, creating comics\, writing music\, and collaborating creatively with friends! \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Dani Juarez is a native Chicagoan\, a career educator\, and an art teacher who can’t just choose one medium. The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze her. Dani’s weekends are for grad school homework–school counseling–coffee on the porch\, and cooking her 16 year old son’s (who is also attending App this year!) favorite foods.

These art-making workshops are held in the studio space at the Turchin Center and are led by Appalachian State University student instructors. Prior to attending Appalachian State\, Reese worked and interned at Holt School of Fine Art in Charlotte N.C. This was the seed combining her love of both art and teaching. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Ava Kassab\, raised in Hickory\, NC\, is majoring in Art management at Appalachian State University\, with a minor in Nonprofit organizations. Her work explores themes of unconditional love and acceptance\, spirituality\, and a deep respect for nature. Drawing and painting with mixed media are her key mediums\, primarily using acrylic paint\, acrylic markers\, ink pens\, colored pencils\, and more. Ava has exhibited work in Newton\, NC\, at NoCo Arts gallery and at Appalachian State’s Smith Gallery and Looking Glass Gallery.  \n
