For the first time ever, experience easy and convenient access to both First Friday crawls in the towns of Boone and Blowing Rock. Building upon their longtime partnership, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts (TCVA) and the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum (BRAHM) are connecting the arts between Boone and Blowing Rock with a free shuttle service during the First Friday Art Crawl on July 1, 2016. Shuttles will be running every 30 minutes between TCVA and BRAHM from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission to TCVA and BRAHM on the evening of the event is free and open to the public.
"Watauga county is fortunate to have two art museums within its borders,” says Lee Carol Giduz, Executive Director at BRAHM. "BRAHM and the Turchin Center are both excited to share their offerings with the entire community and to partner on this opening night. The shuttle allows us to be one big museum for the evening!
Hank Foreman with Appalachian State University says, “The Turchin Center is celebrating our Summer Exhibition Celebration and kicking off another artspacked season of An Appalachian Summer Festival. We are so pleased to work with our friends at BRAHM to support the arts in our region and offer this service to our community.”
Make the most of your summer Art Crawl and see several major art and history exhibitions in the High Country without the concern of driving or parking. Together, TCVA and BRAHM have over 10 exhibitions for you to see. Jump on the shuttle and stop by BRAHM to enjoy a drink and hors d’oeuvres as you tour the galleries, then take a stroll through the quaint town of Blowing Rock and taste a variety of wines on Main Street during the town’s First Friday Sip N’ Shop. Make your way to TCVA on the shuttle and experience the newest lineup of exhibitions for their Summer Exhibition Celebration, then continue your stroll down King Street and take a peek inside the many shops and art galleries along the way.
