Appalachian State University is closely monitoring the developing COVID-19 situation, which continues to evolve rapidly. Based on guidelines announced by Appalachian State Universityand NC Governor Ray Cooper’s executive order of March 27, 2020, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts has revised its schedule, with changes outlined below. Schedules and guidelines are subject to further change in the coming days and weeks. All schedule changes specific to public events at the Turchin Center will be posted on the Turchin Center’s website and on Facebook.

The Turchin Center’s administrative offices remain open and our staff is working remotely and continues to be available to assist students, faculty, staff and community members with digital information and online resources related to our exhibitions. Scheduling information for the Turchin Center will be posted here, as updates become available.

Visiting the Turchin

The galleries of the Turchin Center will be closed through April 29, 2020. Updates will be provided when available.

Events

In accordance with guidelines announced by Appalachian State University, all events through May 2020 have been cancelled. The Turchin Center will therefore cancel events scheduled between now and the end of May 2020, including:

  • ARTtalk: Hui Chi Lee (Exhibition extended to September 5 and ARTtalk will be rescheduled sometime during summer)
  • April 3 and May 1, 2020– First Friday Art Crawl
  • Private events at the Turchin

Updates for events scheduled after May 2020 will be posted on the Turchin Center website.

Workshops

Workshops scheduled during spring semester have been cancelled. Workshop attendees who are pre-registered will be contacted. Specific questions can be directed to Christy Chenausky at chenauskyc@appstate.edu.

The Turchin Center’s administrative offices remain open and our staff is available to assist students, faculty, staff and community members with digital information and online resources related to our exhibitions.
