Appalachian State University is closely monitoring the developing COVID-19 situation, which continues to evolve rapidly. Based on guidelines announced by Appalachian State University, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts has revised its schedule, with changes outlined below. Schedules and guidelines are subject to further change in the coming days and weeks. All schedule changes specific to public events at the Turchin Center will be posted on the Turchin Center’s website and on Facebook.

The Turchin Center’s administrative offices remain open and our staff is available to assist students, faculty, staff and community members with digital information and online resources related to our exhibitions. Scheduling information for the Turchin Center will be posted here, as updates become available.

Visiting the Turchin

During this period when the Turchin Center's Student Gallery Ambassadors are not on campus and the university is actively promoting social distancing, our galleries will be closed.

Events

In accordance with guidelines announced by Appalachian State University, all events with an estimated attendance of 100 or greater have been cancelled. The Turchin Center will therefore cancel events scheduled between now and April 5, 2020, including:

  • April 1, 2020 - ARTtalk: Hui Chi Lee (rescheduled for April 29, 2020 @ 6 p.m.)
  • April 3, 2020 – First Friday Art Crawl
  • Private events at the Turchin

Updates for events scheduled after April 5, 2020 will be posted on the Turchin Center website.

Workshops

Workshops scheduled during spring semester have been cancelled. Workshop attendees who are pre-registered will be contacted. Specific questions can be directed to Christy Chenausky at chenauskyc@appstate.edu.

Gallery hours

Based on guidelines announced by Appalachian State University, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts will be closed through March 22, 2020.

During times of inclement weather, the Turchin Center follows the closing schedule of Appalachian State University.
