Lunch & Learn Lecture Series: Maryrose Carroll

Event date:
Wednesday, July 26, 2017 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

For nearly 30 years, Maryrose Carroll has been a central figure in the world of contemporary sculpture. Her stunning, towering public sculptures are located across North Carolina, in Charlotte, Hickory, and Fayetteville, and in Illinois and California. Her sculpture is also in museum collections in Chicago and Springfield, IL, Hartford, CT, Dayton and Oxford, OH. Maryrose has taught at Northwestern University and Appalachian State University, and serves as a distinguished “road scholar” with the North Carolina Humanities Council. In this lecture-demonstration, Maryrose will examine the Rosen Sculpture Competition & Exhibition and its influence on sculpture in North Carolina.

This project is made possible by funding from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
